A crewed yacht charter in the British Virgin Islands (or BVI) promises to be an unforgettable vacation with something for everyone. Our crew creates a custom itinerary that reflects your preferences, but here’s just one example of how you can spend your 8 days in the BVI aboard Synergy.
Day 1
After arriving in Tortola, we’ll set sail from Nanny Cay on the south side of the island and head to Norman Island. Boarding time is 12 p.m.
Day 2
The Caves on Norman Island—one of the”Little Sisters” islands in BVI—is among the most fabled locations in pirate lore. Snorkel in and around what is reputed to be Blackbeard’s treasure stash in crystal clear waters surrounded by thousands of colorful fish.
A quick sail takes us to “The Bight” on Norman Island, home of “William Thornton,” a legendary floating bar and restaurant affectionally called the Willy T.
Day 3
Our third day begins with sailing along Peter Island and past Dead Chest Island to anchor at Salt Island, the final resting place of the R.M.S. Rhone. The Rhone sank during a fierce hurricane in 1896 and scuba divers from throughout the world trek to BVI to explore its wreckage. As certified dive masters, our crew can lead this dive for certified guests or we can snorkel above the stern section. After reboarding Synergy, we’ll sail to The Baths at Virgin Gorda (one of BVI’s 4 largest islands), where you can wade through tranquil pools formed by massive granite boulders. A short hike takes us to the picturesque Devil’s Bay, an unmatched location for swimming and snorkeling. It’s an experience you won’t forget.
After lunch on Synergy, we’ll sail to the Bitter End Yacht Club, a beachfront resort where guests can enjoy a classic BVI evening sipping your favorite rum punch and listening to a steel drum band.
Day 4
A short cruise to the island of Anegada and its endless, secluded white sand beaches. After the previous day’s adventures, Anegada is the perfect place to relax and check out Loblolly or Cow Wreck Beach. Of course, there are also some fantastic snorkeling opportunities, as Anegada is surrounded by the world’s third-largest living coral reef.
Day 5
After enjoying another scrumptious breakfast aboard Synergy, we’ll set sail again to Virgin Gorda, where we’ll stop for lunch and excellent snorkeling surrounded by granite boulders. In the afternoon, we’ll sail through to Marina Cay, a private, 8-acre island resort east of Tortola.
Day 6
Enjoy a morning cup of coffee and then we’re off to Guana Island, where we’ll anchor off Monkey Point and eat breakfast. The island’s unusual coral outcrops provide more great snorkeling. Tiny Green Cay, an islet just off Jost van Dyke, summons a “Robinson Crusoe” vibe and you can walk around it in 5 minutes. Jost van Dyke’s world-famous Foxy’s is an ideal happy hour spot, where you can pin an article of clothing with your name written on it among hundreds of other visitors’ clothes.
Day 7
Just around the point from Foxy’s, White Bay features a beautiful strip of white sand with coconut palms—and the Soggy Dollar Bar, the birthplace of the “Painkiller” cocktail. We’ll spend a leisurely day here before returning to Tortola, spending the night at the West End of Tortola in Soper’s Hole.
Day 8
After breakfast and a short cruise, it’s time to depart at noon back at Nanny Cay.
