Our Seasoned Crew

Captain Jacob and Chef Alex met in 2017 working on the deep blue Mediterranean waters. The culture, vibrancy, and excitement of the Mediterranean season kept them coming back for more, until the Caribbean called their names in 2019. Both based in the USVI they ran private catamarans separately, each growing and developing their own style and momentum, but still remaining close in friendship and in their understanding of what an amazing charter looks like, and how best to run a term charter boat.

Throughout his time running catamarans in the Caribbean, Captain Jacob has discovered many hidden gems and looks forward to bringing a uniquely tailored experience for each guest on Synergy.

Meanwhile, Chef Alex was bringing the heat in the galley onboard Au Soleil and at Ashburton Cookery school, where she developed a passion and knowledge of local island cuisine, and how best to prepare and serve all of the different flavors, styles and colors to her guests aboard Synergy.

Together Captain Jacob and Chef Alex believe in a chameleon approach to running charters. They blend and bend to whatever request and preference they are met with. They enjoy having any and all kinds of guests onboard-from the giggly bubbly families with children, to the couples and friends that just need a week of luxury and sunshine. They want their guests to walk off the yacht at the end of the week just as excited about them as they were about waking up to a dolphin off the stern, or a lobster dinner on the beach.

Together, Jacob and Alex make the ultimate charter yacht team, and look forward to welcoming guests aboard Synergy for an amazing 2021-2022 season. Additionally, they’re both fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

Captain

Jacob Beman

Capt. Jacob grew up in Chicago and left the cold weather for sunny southern California after college. It was here that he fell in love with sailing and has never looked back since. After purchasing his own boat and becoming involved with several race teams he decided to make his passion a full time job.

Working several seasons in the Mediterranean and Australia, he honed his charter skills before arriving in the Virgin Islands in 2018. For the past 3 seasons he has sailed the USVI and BVI in search of the perfect locales to make your trip one in a lifetime!

Jacob’s credentials include U.S. Coast Guard 100 Ton vessel certification, as well as being a commercial level Yachtmaster. He has captained a number of luxury charter yachts, where he enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience with guests over one of his specialty cocktails.

Chef/First Mate

Alex Robertson

Born in Toronto and raised in Philadelphia, cooking was always a family pastime, but after graduating from the University of Toronto with a degree in Anthropology in 2015, Alex moved to Italy to learn more about the Italian culture, but more importantly, about the food. After working in restaurants in Florence, Alex knew that she would never get enough of the kitchen and began to search for the perfect combination of cooking and adventure.

2016 brought a summer of cooking on sailing yachts in the med, which led her to quickly fall in love with the charter lifestyle. She took every chance she could to continue to grow, explore and learn all of the ins and outs of yacht cuisine. Fast forward six years, Alex is a globally experienced chef having worked on sailing yachts from the East Indies to the Caribbean with no plan of slowing down.

With all of her gained knowledge and experience, she spent the 2021 Mediterranean season training and preparing the next generation of yacht chefs for their future careers, all while still serving her own guests onboard. She’s excited to be back in familiar Caribbean waters after finishing her Chef’s certificate at the Ashburton Cookery school in the UK this October.

Destinations

Synergy is based out of St. Thomas in the USVI and on request Tortolla in the BVI for the 2021/2022 season as well as seasonal itineraries. We can also offer an on request possible other itineraries. The yacht is available for Grenadines itineraries from September, 2022. Please inquire for more detailed information.
